A beautiful wedding with Lindsey and Chris!

After their engagement shoot, I knew I was going to have a blast of a time with Lindsey and Chris. They are so fun to be around! Especially with Chris being an avid photographer himself, the photoshoot promised to be awesome. And it didn't disappoint.

We also did something new for us. We set up a self-manned photobooth at the reception, which everyone seemed to really enjoy. Without supervision, people really let loose and had a great time with it.

Enough of me, here's Lindsey!

Tell us about your venues:

Our ceremony was held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Spruce Grove. It's a fairly new church, but has a lot of special meaning for both of us. We were both baptized in this parish. We also were the first graduating class from our high school to have our graduation at the new church. We couldn't imagine getting married anywhere else.

Our reception was at the Mayfield Inn and Suites. When we were looking around, we wanted to find a place that had classic elegance as well as great food - we found both there. We were able to transform the room into a classy, elegant but fun environment, which is exactly what we wanted.

What was the style or theme?

There wasn't a particular theme, but we did want to throw in a lot of personal touches. We wanted there to be style and elegance, mixed with good times (such as the candy buffet). We also wanted to share with everyone some things they may not know about us, which is why we named each of our tables places that we have travelled together, and put pictures of each on them.

The Dress:

I never thought I would have "the moment" that brides speak of when they put their wedding dress on for the first time... but I totally did. My Maggie Sotterro dress was the 4th one I tried on that day, and it was amazing. I couldn't believe how beautiful it made me feel. No other dress even came close. It fit my body well, and had just enough details to be stunning without being overwhelming.

Your Shoes, Jewelery, and Accessories:

I knew I had to have blue shoes... blue is my favourite colour, and it is one of the wedding colours. They were my "something blue". I borrowed my sister's earrings for the day, the same ones that she wore on her wedding day (my "something borrowed"). I felt my dress was the "something new", and therefore I needed something old... so I decided to wear my gold bracelet that has a "sisters" charm on it. I gave my older sister the "big sis" charm the day before her wedding, and I kept the "little sis" charm for myself. We wore them on her wedding day, and I felt it only appropriate to wear it on mine. The charm may not be that old, but the sentiment behind it has been there my whole life.

Hair and Makeup:

My hair and makeup were done at my sister's house the morning of the wedding. We had a team from Raw Salon in St. Albert come to the house. They were great, and it was nice to just keep relaxed. I wanted to go for a bit of a Taylor Swift updo, which turned out to be very romantic and pretty. I don't often wear my hair up, but Chris loves it when I do. I wanted my makeup to be soft yet elegant, and I feel that they pulled off the perfect balance - I was very happy with it!

Groom, Groomsmen, and Bridesmaids attire:

Chris and his guys rented their suits from the Tuxedo house. My favourite colour is blue, and I knew that we had to incorporate that colour. The guys wore classic, elegant suits. The best part was that the groomsmen vests and ties matched the bridesmaids dresses, which were Alfred Angelo. I had the girls pick out any dress they liked, and this was one style that they all looked good in. Of course, our best woman wore black to match the guys, but had a splash of blue to tie in the theme. She was limited in her dress selection being 7 months pregnant, but she totally rocked it.

The Wedding Flowers:

Our flowers were amazing! I meet with Mayfield Flowers a few months before the wedding, and they were very accommodating! I knew I didn't want blue flowers, so we decided on a variety of whites and greens. Then she combined magnolia leaves, which are brown on the back, to incorporate the brown colour of the wedding. They were stunning, and I had so many compliments from everyone about what a great job they did.

Your Details:

Our centerpieces fit our simple yet elegant style - two calla lillies in a slim, tall vase. Our florist added in the blue gems and lights, and with the mirrors they became very elegant.

The cake was one of my favourite details. I'm a veterinarian, and our pets our very important to us, so we decided to go with a pet theme. We found the Lady and the Tramp cake topper online and instantly knew we would have a creative, fun cake.

Our candy buffet was a huge smash - I've never seen so many adults go so crazy over candy in my life! It was completely gone halfway through the night! The candy doubled as our favours, and I think that most people loved it.

Of course, the final highlight was the photo booth. Everyone is still talking about those pictures, and how much fun they had! Lloyd, you did an amazing job of creating it and simply making our day the best day of our lives!

The Honeymoon:

Unfortunately we haven't had time to go on a honeymoon, but hopefully in the near future we would like to go to Europe for a few weeks!

Your Most Memorable Moment of the Day:

My favourite moment was saying my vows. The priest took his microphone off and placed it in front of us, so that everyone could only hear us (and not what the priest was asking us to repeat). It brought out a lot of emotions, and really made the day all about our commitment to each other. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world, and am so happy that we are married!

I think it's so adorable when the bride and groom share a happy moment during the ceremony.

This was Lindsey and Chris' photo request. At their high school grad, they got a shot together at the Legislature just like this, so they wanted to re-enact it.
