A very special wedding: Kate and Jared!

This was a very special wedding for me. Jared, one of my closest friends, was getting married! I was also assigned as best man and I also did the formal photos while my other very competent shooters (Merry and Mike) covered the ceremony and reception.

He was going to marry a girl named Kate. Ironically, I've known Kate a lot longer than I've known Jared. Coincidentally, Kate and I went to the same junior high, in Calgary. What are the odds? I first met Kate about 23 years ago, though I'm pretty sure she doesn't remember that... hahahaha.

Anyhow, I was thrilled at the news! So here came the wedding day. All I can say is... I'm so happy for my buddy and his new, stunningly beautiful wife.

Kate and Jared's house is right across the street from mine. I went to take some photos of the preparations and the dress, and for the first time in our 13 years shooting weddings, I shot that portion in my pyjamas. I wish I could do that for all weddings! LOL!

The ceremony was supposed to be outdoors, but it was raining pretty hard that day! So plan B was to have the wedding inside my downtown studio! I wasn't sure how it would go but it worked out great!

The rain slowed down enough for us to get outside and shoot some photos right outside the studio.

Then we retreated to the indoors when the rain picked up again.

And I even ended up shooting some photos inside my studio too.

After the awesome reception, the rain had stopped, so we went to the Mill Creek Ravine to get some photos where the wedding was SUPPOSED to take place. Standing right between these trees was the original plan.

It's a little bit of a hike to get there!

Though the clouds threatened, it stayed dry for the shoot! Whew!

I LOVE this pic. It's so sweet and Kate is so pretty! (Don't worry Jared, you're pretty too!)

So HUGE congrats guys! I'm so happy for both of you! I'm looking forward to many more days of hanging out and chatting! It's so nice to live across the street from you! And Merry and I were honoured to be a part of your super special wedding! Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
