Welcome our newest family member: it's a GIRL!!!!!

And her name (after much debate) is: Megan!

Megan was born August 1, 2011 at 10:45AM at the Royal Alexandra hospital in Edmonton, AB, CANADA. She is adorable and doing fabulous!

Here is short summary of the journey.

Labour started around 23:30 on July 31. We arrived at the hospital around 7AM. If any of you recall, Merry was an absolute superstar when Simon was born, and she was just as impressive for Megan.

The staff didn't even assess her until over two hours had passed after we arrived. Because Merry was so calm and relaxed, they assumed she wasn't very far along. When the resident finally came to assess her, her reaction was very surprised, saying, "Oh my gosh! Baby is coming soon! We have to get everything ready!"

When the doctor arrived, the first thing she said was, "Are you sure she's on no pain medication?" Yup, no meds or epidural. What a rockstar.

Here is Merry, my hero. Chillin' out and calm, and only two hours from delivery:

The monitor she was hooked up to was bad and was giving stupid readings. Ironically, the exact same thing happened for Simon's birth. Who maintains these machines anyhow?

And here she is, just seconds after her grand entrance! It's funny, when she's crying, she looks exactly like Simon (when he cries). LOL.

She calmed down as soon as they wrapped her up. Just minutes old.

Finally down in the recovery ward, Merry gets to really enjoy our little princess for the first time.

Then I went home and brought Simon to meet his new sister! I was curious to see how he'd react. And his reaction was... well... just a pretty blank stare. I don't think he had any clue what this thing was that we were showing him.

So he turned his attention to more interesting things... like his juicebox.

Starting to wake up a bit!

And right back to sleep.

Apologies if our correspondence has been slow. We will eventually catch up when things settle a bit. We are both exhausted at the moment but happy as can be!
